Samuel Chadwick once wrote, "The one concern of the Devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray. I believe the greatest thing you can do for God is not to be the greatest preacher or Bible teacher. I don't even believe the greatest thing you can do for God is to share the Gospel with everyone you meet. I do believe the greatest thing you can do for God is to become a great person of prayer. Seeking the face of God in humble prayer was the key God gave us to see healing come to our land (2 Chronicles 7:14.) God is doing miraculous things around the world today but in every place those things are happening, pastors and congregations from different denominations and races are praying together passionately and powerfully. Communities and even cities are being transformed (crime statistics down, divorce statistics down, alcohol and drug addiction down, businesses are prospering and people are experiencing Jesus Christ in huge ways.) Many Katy pastors from different denominations have been praying together weekly for over ten years. A prayer room has been opened in downtown Katy in late 2005 that people are committing to pray at different time slots throughout the week. Let me encourage you to become a great person of prayer praying for God to do great things in Katy. The Devil will continue to scoff at our efforts to do prayerless things for God but when the church gets serious about prayer, the Devil will tremble. Praying for you, Tim Barker Associate Pastor to the Church in Katy |

Edwin Orr has studied
the history of revivals perhaps more than anyone else. His conclusion
after studying over 4000 years of history is this: "Whenever God is
about to send revival, He sets His people to praying." In Christ,

I want to personally
invite you to be with us every Wednesday, at the Katy Prayer Room, to
join together with other pastors in this community and to seek the face
of the Lord together. We often hear of the divisions in our society,
whether they be political, racial, economical or denominational. What an
opportunity we have to allow our community to see something different.
What an opportunity we have to lay our differences at the foot of the
cross and come together learning to honor each other. In fact, the Word
tells us in John 13:35, "By this all will know that you are My
disciples, if you have love for one another." My church affiliation has a saying: Five years ago, I came to Katy, Texas to birth a church. I quickly
connected to The Katy Church. What I found there were ministers of all
backround hungering and thirsting for more of God. I met an Episcopalian
priest who was passionate about God. I met a Presbyterian pastor who was
sold out to the Lord. I met Baptist pastors and Methodist pastors who
equally hungered to see a move of God in Katy, Texas. What I am
attempting to say is this; We often attach ourselves to a local church
or denomination and we tend to forget that there is one body of Christ
that is just as passionate and sincere as our heart is for the Lord! |
